This blog was created to bring attention to the injustice that the Florida DMV aka Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles is imposing on thousands of drivers statewide. Several months ago I sold my vehicle and even called Geico to let them know that I no longer owned the vehicle. Three months after selling the vehicle my driver's license was canceled by the state of Florida for not having insurance on the car. I did not even own the car any longer and the insurance was canceled well after I sold the car and signed the title over to the purchaser. So I took my bill of sale, proof of redemption of the tags, proof of insurance cancelation, and a notarized letter to the Division of Driver's License Office located at: 1931 NW 9th Ave Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311. After waiting for a long time I got to speak to somebody who told me it would be a $250. reinstatement fee. I asked why and he said: Because you did not have insurance on the car! I explained that there was no need for me to have insurance on the car because it was no longer my car. I finally realized that it was going to do not good to argue with him and he told me to call Tallahassee. I called Tallahassee over 20 times and only get a busy signal. I called the other numbers and was not able to get through either.
1-7-2011 BLOG CLOSED. Was finally able to get through to Tallahassee and the rep was very pleasant and quick to see things my way and reinstate the license without paying a dime. FINALLY!!!
